How we compare
Feedback Magic covers six things that are usually six separate purchases: a feedback button, surveys, visual annotation, a changelog, a voting board and testimonial collection. This page shows what that costs elsewhere, how those tools bill you, and — further down — the things they genuinely do better than we do.
1. The part that matters most: how you get billed
Price tags are easy to compare and mostly beside the point. What decides your bill in a year is the meter. Most tools in this category charge more as more people engage — which means the better your feedback programme works, the more you pay.
| Tool | You pay more when… |
|---|---|
| Canny | more people post, vote or comment (billed per “tracked user”) |
| Beamer | more people load a page containing the script — they never have to open the changelog |
| Survicate | more people answer your survey (billed per response, overage fees after) |
| Marker.io | you add seats, or exceed 5,000 page views a month on the entry plan |
| Featurebase | you add seats — plus $0.49 for every AI resolution |
| Feedback Magic | never. Flat price. Responses, visitors and page views are unlimited and unmetered. |
We do cap two things, and we'd rather say so here than surprise you: the number of widgets on your plan (add more for $6/mo per three) and monthly AI credits. Neither moves because your visitors showed up.
2. What all six surfaces cost elsewhere
The cheapest honest combination. Canny already includes a changelog, so we've left Beamer out rather than double-count it, and every price below is that vendor's cheapest annual rate — the number most favourable to them.
| Surface | What you'd buy | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Voting board · changelog · feedback | Canny (Pro, from 100 tracked users) | $79 |
| Surveys · CSAT · NPS | Survicate (Starter, 500 responses) | $114 |
| Visual annotation · bug reports | Marker.io (Starter, 3 users) | $39 |
| Testimonials | Senja (Starter) | $29 |
| Four vendors · four dashboards · four invoices | $261 | |
| Feedback Magic Pro — all six, one dashboard | flat, unmetered | $79 |
That is not an argument that those tools are bad. Canny's board is excellent and its integration ecosystem is far deeper than ours. It is an argument that most teams do not need four vendors to ask their customers four kinds of question.
3. Send it as a link, not just a script tag
Every one of our widgets also works as a hosted page you can link to — in an email, behind a QR code on a receipt, in a support reply, from a link in a bio. No website required, and each channel is tagged so you can see which one actually earned the responses.
To be straight about it: we did not invent this. Senja and Testimonial.to are built around collection links, Survicate ships shareable survey links, and Canny hosts public boards. What is unusual is having all six surfaces work that way, with per-channel attribution, landing in one dashboard.
4. Pip
Most tools in this category now have AI that reads your feedback — categorising, deduplicating, summarising. So do we, and we won't pretend that part is unique.
What we haven't found anywhere else is an assistant that knows the product: ask Pip which widget suits what you're doing, why nothing's coming through, or how to install on your stack, and it answers from the screen you're on and your actual workspace. Tell it what you want to learn and it will design the widget — the questions, the wording, when it appears.
Asking is free on every plan. Having it build for you is an add-on, and it's free for the whole trial so you can judge it before paying for it.
5. Where these tools beat us
If a comparison page wins every row, it isn't a comparison page. Genuine reasons to buy something else:
- You want session replay or heatmaps — Hotjar and Userback record what people actually did. We only capture what they chose to tell you.
- You want video testimonials — Senja and Testimonial.to do video properly. We collect text only.
- You need a native mobile app SDK — Survicate has iOS and Android. We are web-only.
- You live in a deep integration ecosystem — Canny connects to far more than our seven outbound adapters.
- You want a free tier — Canny, Featurebase, Beamer and Senja all have one. We have a 7-day trial and then a paid plan, nothing in between.
- You want a long track record — these are established products with years of customers and reviews behind them. We are new, and no amount of copywriting changes that.
The short version
If you need one of these six things and nothing else, buy the specialist — they'll go deeper than we do. If you need several, or you'd rather your bill didn't grow every time a customer answers a question, we're worth the seven days.
